Interesting trade - Dzingle back to Ottawa for Galchenyuk and Paquette. Both teams willing to wait the 14 days i guess

Filip Zadina -- Dylan Larkin -- Mathias Brome

Givani Smith -- Robby Fabbri -- Bobby Ryan

Anthony Mantha -- Vladislav Namestnikov -- Luke Glendening

Sam Gagner -- Frans Nielsen -- Adam Erne

Jon Merrill -- Filip Hronek

Marc Staal -- Troy Stecher

Christian Djoos -- Patrik Nemeth

The above is projected...4th is abysmal. Mantha on the 3d line again, I don’t get it. If they’re going to trade him, I’d think he needs to on a line to highlight his talent. I just can’t get past the way this is going down. We’d want a haul for Mantha, give him a ton of ice time to attract buyers. The reality is, he looked good last game. So this is all kinda frustrating to me. Border-line bullshirt.

I just want to see RYAN SIGNED LONG-TERM!! Screw the return at the TDL, would you sell gold just for S & G? NO. This kid’s SO good, SO much character, drive, and class. His time in the NHL is drawing to a close (already 13 yrs in the league), so lock him into a front-loaded deal to make signing him more attractive at the end of his time, if that’s what comes to pass.

Stall just ain’t what we need on the D-line, same thing I’ve said for a while now. I still don’t see DK....reckon his injury is a bit more severe that previously thought, trade him & bring in a kid from GR to replace Lidstrom from the TA. The kid needs ice time, thank you! He showed some real promise last year; good anticipation, closed gaps relatively well, decent speed, pretty good outlet pass.

We have to start quickly and put Smashville on their heels. Rinne’s a very good keeper, so bombarding him from all angles, clogging the net-front. Our PP is embarrassing, something needs to change there....and quickly. It’s a real ship-show w/the man advantage. Our FOWs are dropping dramatically w/Glennie out, so if he does play tonight he’ll need to hammer it in the circle.

This game is a battle of the bottom, so expectations are very low. The biggest thing is seeing steady improvement, but with the line-up we have, I wonder what difference it makes unless it’s the kids improving (Stall’s not gonna be here next year, so I don’t really care what improvement he shows....make sense?).

I watch the ‘Canes because I’m in SC. Dzingle was on the outs for a while. Seems like a small-time trade, really. I think CAR won the deal just because they have Dzingle off the books and got 2 players back, and Galcheyuk is actually a pretty good player. Kinda surprised he was as low performing in OTT as he was. CP is a pretty good return as well. Think this trade was more about filling the bottom lines than shaking the ‘Canes up. Good move, overall. CAR won it, if one is asking for a “winner” in this deal...

Yeah, Dzingel was a “big name” when CBJ got him for the playoffs. He and Duchene have fallen off since then. So did Bobrovsky a bit. Panarin is still awesome. This didn’t really move the needle, just interesting

Why would you sign a soon to be 34 year old long term?

Ottawa won the trade. Dzingel was the best player in the trade easily.

Dzingle trade

ANALYSIS

There’s a good chance we see the Hurricanes make another move, as Dzingel was likely dealt to create a bit of cap space. Dzingel’s AAV was $3.38 million, while Galchenyuk’s is $1.05 million and Paquette’s is $1.65 million. Should the Hurricanes choose to do so, they could bury Galchenyuk’s contract with no cap implications, while Paquette’s contract would cost only $575,000 against the cap, if buried. I'm not saying that's the route the Hurricanes go, as they'd save some space even without burying contracts, but they do have the option.

Trade Ryan at the TDL for a shot at another cup. I would bet TB would make room for him. Then sign him for a year or 2 this summer. Let Ryan call that shot. [/img]

Ottawa traded to gain roster space, Canes traded for cap space,.....not much to see here really. None of them are doing well so far.

That was a nice tap in. Mantha did a lot to get the puck down there. More good defensive play from him

With the lack of scoring talent they need more flukey goals like that.

I think the Staal Bros should play together. Maybe the Canes will sign Marc and Eric on a minimum contracts this summer!
